Seventh Grade has been working on Classification. Look at this Google Slide Deck to see some of their favorite animals classified.
Grade Six - During the school year, the 6th grade will explore the four major fields of Earth Science. At the beginning of the school year, the students will focus primarily on Geology and the study of Earth's structure. Towards the end of the first trimester, the students will transition into the field of Oceanography. During the second trimester, students will begin studying Meteorology and Earth's atmosphere. The last aspect of Earth Science that will be covered this year, will be Astronomy. The students will end the school year studying our solar system and the universe that lies in the depths beyond.
Seventh Grade: The students will be learning about the characteristics of all living things. The will describe the needs of living things. Students will recall how living things use nutrients. They will explain the differences among producers, consumers, and decomposers.
Grade Eight: During the school year, the 8th grade science curriculum will consist of both chemistry and physics. During the first trimester, the students will focus mainly on matter and chemistry. During the second trimester, the students will venture into the realm of physics where they will explore energy. Towards the end of the year, the students change course, and begin to prepare for the 8th Grade New York State Science Assessment. This exam will be administered in early June, and will test the students' understanding of earth, life, and physical science.
